"Good quality at a low price" is your right as a customer. Silk has been regarded as the finest fabric throughout the world in every era. Its soft, elegant feel, its luster, and the exquisitely detailed embroidery and dyed patterns—refined to the utmost beauty—could be called the pinnacle of craftsmanship.
Kimono may have the image of being a luxury garment, but needless to say, it has long been worn in everyday life as daily clothing.
We want as many people as possible to enjoy kimono more casually. To make that possible, we believed it was essential to offer kimono at affordable prices—just like Western clothing.
It is enjoyable to wear fashionable items, not only kimono.
At Matsukawaya, we carry many new works by renowned artists as well as ambitious works by up-and-coming creators.
On the other hand, traditional (classic) kimono designs, if cared for, can be enjoyed across generations—from parent to child.
Providing good items at fair prices and having them cherished and worn for many years
is what we consider our mission. Shop Owner

Unlike other stores that source products via kimono manufacturers and wholesalers, we purchase with cash.
Therefore, we do not add consignment fees (rental fees) on top of the original selling price of kimono.
Also, if the price of our kimono and another company's kimono is the same, you can say that the quality of Matsukawaya's kimono is one rank higher. The same applies to obi and accessories.
Because we have continued cash purchasing for 230 years, we have built trust and a proven track record with our suppliers, making it possible to offer prices achievable only by our store.
